Three ways to take the stress out of the holidays

The holiday season can be extremely stressful — especially if you’re considering an upcoming move. If you’ve hired a professional like Red’s Transfer, you can count on us taking care of the moving side. If you haven’t yet, we’d love to be considered for the job, we offer free in-home estimates.

If you’re looking for ways to enjoy the holidays and make this season different, here are a few ideas.

DREAM OF A WHITE SCHEDULE

Instead of just dreaming of a white Christmas, consider dreaming about white space in your schedule. You can say “no” to things this season – and don’t feel guilty about it. Each weekend be sure you are home at least one night. During the week ensure you have 2-3 nights free for family activities. This will help you to be intentional about carving out time for the things that really matter.

READ A BOOK ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS

Whether you are a history buff or enjoy more spiritual books, find a good read that pertains to the holidays. You can read it together as a family or alone in the evening. Either way you will find a deeper appreciation for the holiday and what it has meant to celebrate the season today and in the past.

TURN OFF ELECTRONICS

Have an electronic free night every week or every day. Have some board games, activities or movies you watch instead. Unplugging is an easy way to cue our mind into relaxing. It also clears out mind-space to be better connected with the people around us. You can hang a stocking at the door and encourage all family members to drop their phones into it as they walk into the house.

With these three tips you will be on your way to a more peaceful holiday. And, as always, if you need any assistance making your next move more peaceful, that’s our specialty, and we would be happy to help!
